1. Delete it in the app
This is the fastest route and it needs nobody’s help but yours.
- Open the DiscoverTCG app and sign in, if you are not already.
- Go to the Profile tab, then tap the settings icon.
- Scroll to Your account.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Read what the confirmation tells you — it names the number of reports, verifications and live tickets you are about to lose.
- Type DELETE into the box, then tap Delete for good.
It happens immediately. There is no waiting period, no cooling-off window and no way for us to restore the account afterwards. If you sign in again with the same email address you will get a new, empty account.
2. If you cannot open the app
If you have uninstalled the app, lost the device, or cannot sign in, email support@discovertcg.com from the address your account uses, with the subject Delete my account.
We will verify that the request came from the account holder before we act on it — usually by emailing a code to the address on the account. We aim to complete the deletion within 7 days and will confirm in writing when it is done. UK GDPR gives us up to one month, extendable to three for complex requests; we will tell you if that ever applies to yours.
3. What is deleted
All of the following are erased at the moment you confirm:
- Your account and sign-in details — email address, password if you set one, and any Google or Discord connection.
- Your profile — display name, handle, bio, avatar image and date of birth.
- Your uploaded pictures — your avatar and every photo you attached to a stock report are removed from our storage, not merely unlinked.
- Your stock reports and verifications, including the ones other collectors relied on.
- Your saves, watches and follows, and any price caps or travel distances set on them.
- Your messages to shops, and the conversations containing them.
- Your alerts, alert history and notification settings.
- Your push registrations, so the app on your device stops receiving notifications.
- Your reporting rank, trust score and coins, and the ledgers behind them.
- Your event tickets, including any that are still live.
- Your searches and viewing activity recorded for shop analytics.
Deleting your account is not a way to withdraw a report you regret while keeping everything else. Your contributions go with you. We say so plainly here and in the app because on a service built from collectors’ reports, that is a real consequence rather than a formality.
4. What is kept, and for how long
Four things, and no more:
- A record that a deletion happened. One line saying an account was deleted at a given time, at its own request. It carries no email address — we remove it in the same operation. We keep this indefinitely as proof we acted on your request, which UK GDPR Article 5(2) requires us to be able to show.
- Anonymised traces of actions taken on the platform. Where you approved a listing correction or added a member to a shop, the record of that decision remains but stops pointing at anyone. Your identity is removed; the fact that a decision was made is not.
- Cached copies of anything that was publicly visible, for as long as our content delivery network holds them. This is typically under an hour, and never more than 24 hours.
- Encrypted backups, for up to 30 days, after which they are overwritten on a rolling schedule. Backups are used only to restore the service after a failure and are never mined for deleted accounts.
If a shop you managed is still trading on DiscoverTCG, the shop’s own listing, stock, opening hours and photographs stay. They belong to the business, not to you personally, and other people rely on them.
5. When we cannot delete it yet
There is exactly one case where the app will stop you, and it is a practical problem rather than a policy one.
If you are the only member of a shop, deleting your account would leave that shop with nobody able to run it — its stock, events and customer messages stranded. The app refuses and names the shop.
Add another member to the shop first, or email support@discovertcg.com and we will transfer it. Then delete your account as normal.
6. Deleting some data but keeping your account
You do not have to delete everything to remove most of it. Inside the app you can, at any time and without asking us:
- change or clear your display name and bio;
- replace your avatar with a different picture;
- turn location off, from Settings or from the “Location on” marker on the map;
- turn push notifications off, or set quiet hours;
- remove your watches and follows individually.
Removing one stock report is not yet a button. Reports carry an expiry and drop off the map on their own, but if you want a specific one erased now — along with its photo — email us and we will do it. We are building the self-service control.
For that, or for anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, or erasure of one specific item — email support@discovertcg.com from the address on your account. We will verify who you are and respond within one month, as UK GDPR requires, and in practice much sooner.
